My artistry expressions developed while growing up in a small rustic town on Eastern Long Island in New York. Surrounded by the natural elements enabled me to develop drawing skills of the environment, which translated to the colorful images that helped create the use of enamels as the medium of choice. The butterfly captured my attention as there were many colorful species, thus this became the focus and birth of the enamel butterfly. Using the image in full wing spread or at rest has created the one-of-a-kind as well as a series of butterflies. They can also be made up by special request. Also I like to create unusual ladies portraits with enamels. Some are of a whimsical nature and others are more sophisticated, and I use metal techniques and gem stones to accentuate the hair and the background.
My main occupation was a Medical Technologist and during this time I was always active in the arts; participating in workshops offered by prominent artists, and developing techniques and skills in metalsmithing, lapidary and enameling. Color plays an important role in my designs and with the use of gemstones, some of which I have cut and polished myself, and the enamels help to create my one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Now in my retirement years I am able to be productive and to express my artistic creativity. It is my ambition to make beautiful enamel and fabricated jewelry for others to enjoy.
